Based out of San Francisco, CA, and roasting out of Los Angeles, they're on a mission to source the highest quality, best tasting beans directly from origin. Their medium sized production methods allow them to get up close and personal with each batch, perfecting their processes to create a cup that's bursting with flavor and personality.
The name "Sightglass" comes from the viewing window on their vintage PROBAT coffee roaster, which gives a sneak peek into the fascinating and intricate process of roasting coffee. They're not just about the brew; they're about the story behind the brew – where the coffee was grown, how it was processed, and the incredible journey it took to reach your cup.
Ultimately, Sightglass Coffee is all about delivering an extraordinary experience. They're obsessed with sourcing the most incredible coffees and using the most mindful and quality-focused practices to make sure every sip is an adventure. Rishi Tea is an independently owned, direct trade importer of organic teas and botanicals. With a commitment to setting the standard for quality and expanding awareness of tea and its rich traditions, Rishi Tea offers premium tea and botanicals imported directly from gardens across the world. The company draws inspiration from ancient artisanal practices and modern culinary innovation, emphasizing organic cultivation techniques. Rishi Tea supports growers who cultivate ecologically sustainable gardens in remote locations around the world.
The company's Direct Trade practice is foundational to its quality control program. Through hands-on work with farmers, Rishi Tea verifies the origins and cultivation methods of their organic teas, providing traceability for each lot back to the farm.
Rishi Tea's approach to tea is culinary-inspired, drawing inspiration from various disciplines such as third wave coffee, cocktail mixology, sommeliers’ oenology, botanical apothecary, and traditional culinary arts from global food cultures. This approach reflects the company's belief that tea was originally a food and medicine before it became a steeped beverage.
GET BAKED - SUGARBLOOM BAKERY
Sugarbloom Bakery, located in Highland Park, CA, is the brainchild of chef/owner Sharon Wang, a native Angeleno with roots in Taiwan. Sharon's journey to becoming a pastry chef started with a career in interactive design, co-founding Media Revolution in Santa Monica after attending UCLA. However, her passion for pastries led her to the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, where she honed her skills while working under the guidance of chef Thomas Keller.
Sharon's impressive career includes working with the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group, where she crafted breads and pastries for renowned establishments such as The French Laundry, Per Se, Ad Hoc, and Bouchon Bistro and Bakery. Her dedication and talent led her to head the pastry departments at Bouchon in Yountville and Beverly Hills.
In 2012, drawing from her classic French training and multicultural upbringing in Los Angeles, Sharon ventured out on her own to start Sugarbloom Bakery. The bakery is a reflection of her diverse influences, offering a delightful array of viennoiseries, desserts, and custom cakes. Sugarbloom Bakery is a testament to Sharon's culinary expertise and her commitment to creating exceptional pastries that resonate with the vibrant and culturally rich community of Highland Park.
